Question 1 Who is a Vipassana teacher?
Master Prasert Uthaichelem is a Vipassana teacher who founded and oversees the Suan Yindee Talay meditation center in Sichon District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, and the Makkanukhawiwek Thudongkasathan on Koh Phaluai in Surat Thani Province. He is known as a Dharma teacher who emphasizes simple but profound meditation practices using the principles of anapanasati and the Noble Eightfold Path to help practitioners let go of their attachment to the self and live their lives in accordance with the principles of Dharma.
Master Prasert’s teaching approach is different from other Vipassana teachers. He focuses on practicing mindfulness in daily life, pointing out that practicing Dharma is not limited to the practice place, but should be able to be applied in real life, such as walking, standing, eating, or even working.
Master Prasert’s teachings are widely accepted among those interested in practicing Dharma, both in Thailand and abroad. He has inspired many people to develop themselves through practicing mindfulness, being aware of their minds, and letting go of suffering.
Question 2 How many meditation centers are there?
There are two meditation centers in total: Suan Yindee Talay in Sichon District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, and Thudongkasathan Makkanukawiwek on Koh Phaluai in Surat Thani Province. Both are meditation centers that provide opportunities for people from all walks of life to learn and practice mindfulness, with an emphasis on living a simple life, experiencing nature, and finding peace in the mind.
Question 3 If I booked a flight ticket to the wrong province, for example, I booked a course at Suan Yindee Talay, Sichon, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, but booked a flight ticket to Surat Thani Province, what should I do?
Before booking a flight ticket, please check the course details and the province you applied for correctly to prevent travel errors.
If you booked a flight ticket to the wrong province and found out on the travel date, please make additional travel arrangements, such as booking a bus or taxi from the airport to the designated meditation center.
For the course at Thudongkasathan Makkanukawiwek, Koh Phaluai, you will need to travel to the designated pier to board a boat to the island with your group.
Question 4 If I notified my intention to travel to the pier myself but missed the boat departure, what should I do?
If you are unable to catch the scheduled boat, you can check the daily boat schedule to plan your next boat trip to Koh Phaluai, Surat Thani Province.
Question 5 If I booked a meditation course, can I stay less than the course or overstay the course?
In case of not staying for the full course: You can join the course and return before the scheduled date, but please inform us through the application system so that the staff can facilitate your travel arrangements.
In case of staying beyond the course: You can book additional days through the application system, and the staff will arrange accommodation as appropriate.
Question 6 Can I change the course after I have registered and paid?
You can apply for the course you want to change through the application system. The new course you choose must be within the same year.
Question 7 If I want to cancel my registration, can I get a refund?
Please check your availability before applying and paying, as the money paid into the Machanuka Foundation account is considered a donation for merit-making, which cannot be refunded in any case.
Question 8 If I did not register in advance, can I still join the meditation course?
The meditation center cannot accept those who have not registered in advance to join the course because the number of participants must be limited to suit the location, accommodation, personnel, and food preparation.
Question 9 What should I prepare for the course and what should the meditation outfit look like?
Things to prepare: Personal belongings, sleeping bag, flashlight, water bottle, and small bag for going up and down the mountain. Meditation outfit: Please wear only dark brown shirt and black pants.
Question 10 How many meals per day are there during the course and is it vegetarian?
Suan Yindee Talay Sichon has 2 meals a day, regular meals consisting of meat and vegetables, not vegetarian or vegan.
Thudongkathan Makkanukawiwek, Koh Phaluai has 1 meal a day, regular meals consisting of meat and vegetables, not vegetarian or vegan, and follows the Thudongkawat principles, using the same posture throughout the course of practice.
Question 11 If I need to eat dinner to take medicine, how should I notify them?
Suan Yindee Talay Sichon: You can request dinner on the first day of the course if necessary, such as if you have a chronic disease or take medicine after a meal. Thudongkathan Makkanukawiwek, Koh Phaluai: Dinner cannot be prepared.
Question 12 Can people with knee or leg problems sit on chairs instead of sitting on the floor?
You can sit on a chair instead of on the floor if you have knee or leg problems.
Question 13 Can I choose a hut to stay in? What facilities does the hut have?
The meditation center reserves the right to arrange accommodation as appropriate. Amenities in the hut: leather mattress, leather pillow, and seat for meditation.

Motorized and non-motorized wheelchairs are permitted. The 86th Floor has ramps to make getting around easier and lowered viewing walls so that visitors in chairs can still take in the view. The 102nd Floor currently has a higher wall, but we are working to make it more accessible to all our visitors.
